Our Wedding Checklist

Focus on the high priority tasks that will drive future wedding planning decisions with the checklist below. The services to hire are listed in order of priority with the top ones to be completed within the first 3-4 months of the wedding planning process. 

To save you time (and for vendors to take you more seriously), we recommend only meeting with wedding professionals once you have;

        1. your ceremony and reception venue, and
        2. your wedding date locked in.

The church usually has fixed guidelines as to the time a ceremony can take place. You must adhere to those guidelines.

Personalize your ceremony by selecting who will recite the responsorial psalm.

The priest will work with the church coordinator so don't expect to have many interactions with him.

A Personal Request
You can select your choice of priest to officiate your ceremony. Making a personal call or an in-person meeting is really the appropriate way to make this request.

The church requires that you attend marriage counseling classes prior to being married.
For Catholic Wedding
Time of the ceremony
If at your home parish - it's likely you can decide exactly what time to start the ceremony. If renting a church - they may have specific guidelines.
CSI, Marthoma or Orthodox Wedding
Good to know
You will need to coordinate the Praise and Worship portion of the service
Non-Denominational Wedding
Ideal for family or friends
Personalize your ceremony by selecting readings from the Bible to be recited by a friend of family member of your choosing.
For Catholic Wedding
Protocol
If having multiple pastors in officiating the ceremony, decide if an alternate pastor (not the one actually marrying you) will give the message. If so - make sure everyone is on the same page and extend a personal invitation for the pastor giving the message.
Non-Denominational Wedding
Did you know?
The church encourages you to go through a marriage counseling class, seek this out - ask your priest for suggestions.

Time of the ceremony
You can likely decide exactly what time you would like the ceremony to begin
Non-Denominational Wedding
Protocol
If you are having multiple clergy performing the ceremony, decide if an alternate priest (not the chief celebrant) will do the homily then inform the chief celebrant and personally invite the priest to do the homily.

Did you know?
If you are having one of these weddings, your ceremony is supposed to take place in a church.
CSI, Marthomas or Orthodox Wedding
Good to know
For a non-denominational wedding the ceremony location is open and can be just about anywhere.
