Week 10 | 10-12 months prior to wedding day

Hello Beautiful!

Finding the right décor team is about design AND execution. By now you should have narrowed down save-the-date announcement designs and started your gift/experience registry.

Next, is the one element that tends to visually illustrate your personalities throughout every aspect of your wedding day…decor.

Decor color and theme

Let’s begin.

Selecting every specific element of décor will require knowing the venue space you have to work with.

Regardless of the venue though, the major drivers for décor will be the colors and theme you choose.

Quick tip: Take a moment to create a Pinterest board with a compilation of your likes and dislikes to share with each other, your wedding planner and your decorator/florist.  We suggest having a different board for each of your events!

talk. ask. take the quiz.

  1. Both of you should talk about these items before meeting with a decorator:

    • What is your style? (each of you should take style quiz below)
    • What are your priorities? (examples: party atmosphere, dancing, formal dinner, intimate setting)
    • What will be the main focal point? (the color, the tables, the dance floor, the bar, family, wedding party)

Important. Your answers will guide the decisions on how your room is setup, how your guests engage throughout the evening, and how well everything is executed.

    2.  Asking the right questions will lead you to the right team.

ACTION ITEMS

This process takes a month or two, including considerable thinking on your part.

  1. Start Pinterest board(s)
  2. Meet a few vendors to see their inventory
  3. Have them present their ideas for your wedding events
  4. Find out what they can do for your wedding that is unique and personalized.  Most couples will start with the reception since it’s the most detailed
