Week 4 | 10-12 months prior to wedding day

Hello Beautiful!

Now that you’ve done the prep work and searched venues online, it’s time to visit your favorites!

part 2 OF 3. VISITING VENUES.

Venue visits.

Once you have some parameters to work within, start by calling the venues you’ve narrowed down online.

  • Verify that your date is available and that it meets your expectations/needs discussed earlier.
  • Schedule an appointment to go see it… and so the fun begins!
  • Create a spreadsheet to manage your selections or download our template

Armed with your guest count, budget, ceremony & reception times, and bar & food requirements, you are ready to visit venues!

DesiWeds Insights:
Do the following to stay on track with the upcoming planning tasks:

  1. Give yourself no more than 1 month to make a decision on the venue.
  1. Put emotions aside. We want you to fall in love with your space, looking at it from the perspective of a spreadsheet will help make better decisions.
  2. Estimate actual cost.  Use our F&B Estimator tool to compare the actual price tag for each venue with all expenses added.

  3. Review & discuss your budget.  If your venue proposal is higher than your original Budget Estimator allocation, have a real conversation (both of you, plus parents). Ask yourselves if you are comfortable with taking budgeted dollars away from certain line items to accommodate the venue that you want. Or, discuss if adding more funds to the wedding budget is an option.
  4. Review your contracts. Watch our Understanding a Venue Contract video that highlights important contract line items. Use password DWHotel2020 to access. Please do not share.
